A must read by Timothy Snyfer
Student protests
Click here for the latest post from the ever-interesting Timothy Snyder. In this post he points out that the first pleas for a cease-fire in Gaza came from students on campus.
He further points out that the bans on demonstrations on campus were never about Gaza or Israel or any other issue. To quote him: “They are about silencying young people, in general, as a first step in silencing the rest of us.”
Further: “When we as Americans are trained to think that suppression of speech is normal once, in a major area of life such as college campuses, we take a step towards agreeing with authoritarianism in general.”
Listen to the video. It is worth in.
And let me hear from you. Be well, everyone. Alan
